ArtBreak: Woven Through Generations
Thu, Nov 5 · Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture
About this exhibition
Discover the artistic expression and cultural significance of textiles in Sown Together: New Voices in Contemporary Art. This 30-minute docent-led tour explores how artists use fabric, fiber, stitching, and weaving to tell stories, preserve Indigenous cultural traditions, and express identity and heritage.
Through the exhibition, visitors will consider how textile-making practices connect generations, reflect the histories of families and communities, and transform everyday materials into meaningful works of art. In the spirit of gratitude, the tour invites reflection on the cultural traditions and creative legacies that continue to be shared across generations.
This exhibition is presented in collaboration with McColl Center.
