Speaker Bio: Eddie Mitchell is Vice President of Artificial Intelligence at the Joe Gibbs Human Performance Institute and Joe Gibbs Racing, where he leads AI initiatives that enhance athlete performance, advance biomechanics research, and drive innovation in motorsports. He earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where his research applied deep learning and machine learning to challenges in computational neuroscience, public health, and biomedical physics. Before joining Joe Gibbs, Eddie conducted research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Aberdeen Proving Ground in computational mathematics, machine learning, and computational neuroscience. Passionate about applied AI, he enjoys translating cutting-edge research into practical solutions and sharing how artificial intelligence is transforming sports, healthcare, and other industries. Abstract: Eddie Mitchell led AI and R&D at the Joe Gibbs Human Performance Institute (JGHPI) before his recent transition to leading AI at Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR). While similar in name, the two roles come with vastly different responsibilities.
