An interactive city-hosted event connecting residents, innovators, & local leaders to explore real technology solving real city challenges
Charlotte Community TechDay is where technology moves off the screen and into real life. Hosted by the City of Charlotte and Pathway Community Foundation, this one-day experience transforms Johnson C. Smith University’s Innovation Center into an interactive hub of discovery — featuring live demos, drones, STEM workshops, VR, smart city exhibits, and startup-style presentations.
Students, residents, entrepreneurs, and public leaders come together to explore how technology is shaping everyday life and the future of our communities. Community TechDay is organized into eight destinations that connect familiar areas of city life with hands-on demonstrations, resources, and conversation.
The centerpiece of the day is the HBCU Smart Cities Showcase, where student teams present prototype solutions developed with the City of Charlotte after four months of hands-on collaboration. Teams will compete live for $10,000 in prizes as they pitch real ideas designed to solve real civic challenges.
