Tucked between Midtown, Dilworth, and Elizabeth south of Morehead Street, Cherry is one of Charlotte's oldest historically African American neighborhoods, founded in 1891. While experiencing intense modern infill and gentrification due to its immediate proximity to Center City and Freedom Park, it retains historic churches, Craftsman bungalows, and deep community roots.
