Hike on Little Sugar Creek Greenway
Step outside and slow down! Students and families will explore the changing seasons of North Carolina while hiking the Little Sugar Creek Greenway, observing nature's colors and wildlife, while enjoying the cooler temperatures of fall. Along the way, we’ll also consider how spending time outdoors and engaging in simple physical activity can positively affect our physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Students will participate in a Color Scavenger Hunt, using observation and creativity to find natural items that match a chosen color. We’ll also pause for conversation about movement, outdoor time, and the importance of slowing down when life gets busy. The goal is simple: put down the technology, look around, get moving, and reconnect with the world right outside our door.
What to bring:
Water bottles, observation journals, walking shoes and comfortable outdoor clothing required
Sunscreen and sun protection recommended
cameras and mileage/fitness tracking watches/tech encouraged
